3 Poems Published in a Literary Magazine

3 of my poems in print

A stack of books showed up on my desk one day the other week.

It was a literary magazine called Murphy Square, which curates short stories, photographs, artwork, and poetry for a new issue every year.

I submitted five poems for the Spring 2019 issue. They published three of them:

  • After Charlottesville
  • Breeze
  • Rock and Root

You can see the previous versions here, here, and here.

Big thanks to the editors at Murphy Square.

This makes me wonder what other opportunities to submit poetry or try different kinds of writing are out there but I’ve missed for one reason or another.

It also makes me think of you.

What will you do?

Try new forms.

Attempt and fail and attempt again.

(All that resiliency stuff.)

Make things and have fun.

I’m cheering you on.

P.S. I’m selling the last few printed and signed copies of my book for $10 and free shipping in the U.S. (that’s cheaper than Amazon). Email me if you’d like to order one while supplies last.

  1. Hey John, I thought I was going to be able to read your three poems that got published. Did I miss a link or something?
